Aphra Kerr is a leading expert in the global digital games industry and a Professor of Information & Communication Studies at University College Dublin. She serves as a senior adviser at the UCD Centre for Digital Policy and is an adjunct Professor of Sociology at Maynooth University. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, her work bridges academia, industry, and policy, focusing on the production, circulation, and regulation of digital games and emerging technologies. Author of the acclaimed books Global Games: Production, Circulation and Policy in the Digital Games Industry (Routledge, 2017) and The Business and Culture of Digital Games: Gamework/Gameplay (Sage, 2006), Aphra has contributed significantly to understanding the intersection of games, technology, and culture.
In this talk, Aphra will draw on her extensive research into game industry ecosystems to share insights into the current status and emerging trends shaping the field.
