Can a 1969 analog oscilloscope from the year of the moon landing run modern video games? Why is upgrading your audio card crucial for graphical quality? In this talk, Petteri Timonen will tell the story of Fractured Edge, a 72 hour jam game which ranked #1 in innovation out of 2204 projects in Ludum Dare 49.

Petteri is a game jam enthusiast who got into programming at a young age through video game modding. As his day job, he has developed algorithms for Nokia, Google, Varjo and Apple. His independent algorithm projects have won awards from organizations such as European Commission and MIT Lincoln Laboratory, including becoming one of the only Finns who have had a minor planet named in their honor. Petteri combines his passion for algorithms and gaming to create technically novel jam games for unusual platforms, which have included Nintendo 64, Varjo XR headsets, and vacuum tube oscilloscopes.
